Prayer for the Good Use
of the Communications Media
While we give thanks to God for the marvelous
means of communication given to humankind for
the service of truth, let us ask Him to give everyone
the possibility of knowing the truth for the proper
shaping of their lives.May priests and bishops of the Church recognize
and use the media of social communication to
illuminate the events of life with the message of the
Good News entrusted to them by God for our
salvation, let us pray to the Lord.
Jesus Master, hear our prayer.May all countries be guaranteed the possibility
of freely making the truth known through the
communications media in the interest of human
development and for peace among people, let us
pray to the Lord.
Jesus Master, hear our prayer.
May all who own and direct the modern means
of communication have the courage to prefer the
service of truth to which all have a right, rather than
their own personal views or interests, so that the
divine plan of salvation may be realized, let us pray
to the Lord.
Jesus Master, hear our prayer.
May professionals in the communications media
--journalists, producers, technicians--aware of
their responsibility, work objectively and unselfishly
for the good of society and for the spiritual role
of the Church, let us pray to the Lord.
Jesus Master, hear our prayer.O Jesus, the Father has sent You as the "light of
nations." To You we pray: enlighten us with Your
Spirit, so that the truth that good media brings us
will free us from evil and help us to follow You, Who
are "the Way, the Truth and the Life." Amen.
Prayer for the Elevation of Society
Through the Communications MediaLord, in union with the priests who today are
offering the holy Mass, I offer you Jesus-Host and
myself, a small victim:
--In reparation for the errors and scandals spread
throughout the world by the media of communications.
--To implore Your mercy for those who are
deceived and allured by these powerful media and
withdrawn from your Fatherly love.
--For the conversion of those who, in the use of
these media refuse to recognize the magisterium of
Christ and of the Church, thereby poisoning the
mind, heart and activity of people.
--That we may all follow Him, Whom you, Father, in the immensity of Your love, sent to the
world, proclaiming: "This is my beloved Son, hear Him."
--To know and make it known that only Jesus,
the Incarnate Word, is the perfect Teacher, the sure
Way that leads to knowledge of the Father and to
participation in His life.
--That in the Church the number of good priests,
religious and laity may be multiplied who are
dedicated to the apostolate of social communications
and make the message of salvation resound
throughout the world.
--That those who carry on the writing, technical
and diffusion apostolates may be wise and holy
and bear witness to genuine Christian life in the
field of social communication.
--To ask that Catholic undertakings in the field
of communication may ever grow in number and
value, so that by effectively promoting truly human
and Christian values, they can offset the voices of
error and evil.
--That knowing our ignorance and unworthiness,
we all may feel the need of humbly and
confidently drawing near to the font of life and
nourishing ourselves with Your Word, Father, and
the Body of Christ, invoking light, love and mercy
for all humankind.Amen
